Help the poor old man before others do!— Steve
Looking for a hidden anecdote guides? Maybe one that can give you multiple titles? Well you’re at the right place! Steve has chanced upon the hidden anecdote Old Man and the Sea, a fairly simple anecdote that can give up to 3 titles!
Although Steve is unsure if you must have a certain amount of points in certain personalities to trigger this quest or a level requirement, Steve has most of Steve’s point in healing. Steve is still not completely sure on the trigger requirement for this quest, but do note that when Steve triggered this quest, in Steve’s anecdote log, there are hidden anecdotes marked with ??? that has descriptions on re-visiting your orphanage.
Well, the hint for this quest is clearly located in the orphanage in Siberia Harbor. If you head to the orphanage (where the tutorial happened) you will find the shelve where there is a photo frame, sort of like a picture book. If you were to look through that book, you would notice that a lot of the pictures towards the end were pictures of characters staring at the lighthouse! It’s clear where you have to go.
Head over to the lighthouse where you can actually seek your quest. Walk up to the door of the lighthouse (there’s only one door, you can’t miss it). There should be an interaction symbol. It is fairly obvious where the lighthouse is when you open the mini-map, but for those who need the coordinates, the lighthouse is near 237, 216.
After interacting for the first time, there should be a pop-up that allows you to either knock or leave. Knock on the door and a message should pop up (in current nearby chat) where you would say, “There used to be an old man that lived here, but now he is gone.” Steve does not have an accurate memory, but that is a similar dialogue. This means that you have successfully triggered the quest.
Now you must go find the old man who is the actual trigger for the quest. The quest won’t show up in your quest log until you find the old man so this is the important part. All you have to do is swim or dash out to the sea area, where there are a lot of ice sheets. The old man is on one of those icy platforms, near the edge. The icy platforms do not show up as landmarks on the mini-map, but there are not a lot of them anyways. The specific icy platform is near 415, 201. Do note that the old man sometimes doesn’t show up, but the reason is unknown to Steve. Steve says to simply come back later.
The old man will request you to help him build a boat (maybe not request as the tone depends on your choice in dialogue). Still, you will have to help him build a raft, a sorry excuse for a boat. First, he talks about finding the plans for building the boat. You will notice a hint in the current nearby chat that basically tells you that you already know where the plans are. Of course, it’s the truth if you did a little bit of exploring in the orphanage. The plans are located on the table inside your home at the orphanage (where you found the photo album at the start). You simply have to and interact with the table to trigger the next part of the quest.
The next part requires you to find the toolbox in order to get a hemp of rope. This is fairly simple as you simply walk outside and you should find the toolbox by Z’s house which is opposite of yours.
After locating the toolbox, you will need to find some wood for the raft. This part is still simple, but a bit more difficult as it involves finding four pieces of wood. These pieces of wood can be found in the wood right outside the orphanage. They may be difficult to spot with the naked eye, so Steve suggests simply walking over tree branches until an interaction symbol pops up. Steve found 3 pieces in a line using this way, with the fourth piece lying a far off but still in the general area. Simply look for trees that are lying on the ground and that allow you to walk on or through them. The area where you can find the branches are near 303, 288.
After you have completed all these steps, the hardest parts of the quest are done. Now simply return to the old man where a new interaction symbol would appear. Tap that symbol to build the raft which will now allow the old man to set sail. There will be two choices in the dialogue where Steve chose for the old man to go follow his dream, hence Steve doesn’t know what the other dialogue entails. However, choosing what Steve chose meant that the old man told you to wait for him to come back, after which a dialogue would appear to tell you to check back within a few days to see if the old man is back. Do not worry about having no rewards though because you will still get two titles at this point, the Aqua Lord and Been Wandering for too Long titles. You will also get some anecdote points.
After 2 real life days (after 2 resets), go back to the lighthouse and interact with the door. The old man should appear and you will be able to chat with him after which he would teleport you to the top of the lighthouse. Then, it’s quest complete and you will receive the Giant of Light title.
This tale was fairly easy although with a bit more steps to it. The final rewards include anecdote points in addition to the three titles Giant of Light, Aqua Lord, and Been Wandering for too Long titles. Although this quest is not part of the main six unknown hidden anecdotes, it is still a worthwhile anecdote to finish.
