Grind your daily anecdotes in Tokyo News!— Steve
Looking for a Tokyo News guide? Looking for an anecdote you can grind? Well, you are at the right place! Steve has compiled Steve’s experience with the daily grind-able anecdote of Tokyo News!
Although Steve is unsure if you must have a certain amount of points in certain personalities or level to trigger this quest, Steve has most of Steve’s point in Justice (Chaos should work too). To trigger the Tokyo News anecdote, you must go to Tokyo and visit certain locations and talk with the NPC that spawns at the location when the Tokyo News announcement pops up (randomly every 30 minutes). Depending on the news, the anecdote completion medal will be different. You will get the anecdote completion of Evil Nemesis for chaos news, Extermination for cosplay news, Fatality for rampager news, and Cleaning Job for Monster news. There are also other anecdote completion such as Good Neighbor (Steve is unsure for condition of this but it may be getting all 4 of the other anecdote completion).
Note that each anecdote will have multiple variations, and you will only be granted the anecdote medal and points for the first completion. However, you will still be able to grind personality points from completing these quests. There are also titles you can receive for grinding Tokyo News. A good tip for grinders would be to save the coordinates to each location (after visiting them once) by sending the coordinates to others in a private message (you can send your current location using location tab in the emotes button). Also, do note that this list may not include all the variations as Steve may not have encountered all the variations (who knows if there will be new ones in future too). Without further unnecessary news, let the true news begin~
If you see the news pop up regarding chaos in Tokyo, you can head over Tokyo to fight some crime. Completing a quest in this section for the first time grants the anecdote medal for Evil Nemesis.
One variation of these crimes can be found in the alley where you feed the hungry dog (near the coordinates 520,440). Simply talk to the robber, defeat the mobs (robbers), and then talk to the victim to complete the quest after choosing a choice that will affect your personality (anti-social, realistic, healing, cutie).
Another variation can be found by heading left on the way to the alley where the hungry dog is. At the corner of the street near the bus stop, you will find an Anxious Passerby NPC who had her wallet stolen near the coordinates 500,490.
After talking to her and triggering the quest, simply cross the street (towards the direction opposite of the dog alley way) and you will find the robber (thief near the coordinates 465,490) near the Moon Realm NPC Tomodachi Misaka. Talk to the robber (sometimes it auto triggers the fight when you walk near) then defeat him to get back the wallet. Bring the wallet back to the passerby to complete the quest.
Another variation can be found towards the riverside near the coordinates 335,595. You will find car thieves trying to steal a car parked by the sidewalk near the buildings side. You can decide to help them steal it (chaos obviously) or stop them from stealing (justice obviously). Choose an option and you will have to defeat the thief for justice (not sure about chaos).
If you see the news pop up regarding cosplayers in Tokyo, you can head over Tokyo to reveal their true identities. Completing a quest in this section for the first time grants the anecdote medal for Extermination.
One variation of this quest can be found near the car park. Head over to the Tokyo car park to find the female NPC Shiori by the building to the right of the car park (near the coordinates 290,360). Talk to her and choose an option from the dialogue choices that will affect your personality (romantic, anti-social, hot-blooded, healing).
You will then need to investigate the NPCs in the car park (that should have spawned behind some cars). Talking to them will reveal they are enemies. Defeat them and Eva should pop up not long after to end your quest.
Another variation of this quest can be found near the Mysterious Fortune Teller NPC (near the coordinates 515,335). Talk to the Devil Clan Attacker NPC (with an exclamation mark) and choose to suppress the devils. Defeat the monsters to complete the quest.
If you see the news pop up about monsters running wild in Tokyo, then head to Tokyo to defeat monsters. Completing a quest in this section for the first time grants the anecdote medal for Cleaning Jobs.
One variation of this event can be found near the giant (square) park near the edge of the map. You should find a Excited reporter NPC near a truck (near the coordinates 485,80). Talk to the NPC and choose between two options that affect your personality (potent man vs. cutie). Defeat the monsters that spawn to complete the quest (for justice points).
Another variation of this event can be found near the metro station where you trigger the Town Anecdote hidden tale. Across the street and by a tree, you should find some monsters near a curious girl (with an exclamation mark) near the coordinates 355,275. Talk to the curious girl NPC and choose to drive off the death servitors. Defeat the monsters and talk to the girl to complete the quest after choosing between two choices that affect your personality (romantic? vs. realistic).
If you see the news pop up regarding rampagers in Tokyo, you can head over to Tokyo to quell the rampagers. Completing a quest in this section for the first time grants the anecdote medal for Fatality.
One variation of this crime can be found near the car park in Tokyo. Head over the car park and head over to the nearby metro station (towards the north). Across from the metro station (near the buildings) should be a Shop Owner NPC (with an exclamation mark) standing near the corner (near the coordinates 320,285). Talk to the NPC and choose to drive the rampagers away. Defeat the rampager nearby (for justice points) and then talk to the shop owner NPC to complete the quest after selecting a choice that affects personality points (realistic, romantic, hipster, conqueror).
Another variation of this crime can be found near 430,430. This is near the metro station by the spawn area (the car dealership). You should be able to see an Old Rampager NPC trying to steal or destroy a motorcycle. Talk to the Old Rampager NPC to trigger the quest. Drive the rampager away (Steve doesn’t believe there’s any other option). After beating the rampagers, talk to the rampager again and you will be given a dialogue option. You can choose to turn them into police for justice or get paid off.
