Xiao Huī Versus the Glass Shoe Part 2

Xiao Huī was shocked when she realized that Xiao Xiānnǚ was going to bring her to the ball. There was an even a bit of excitement and hope in Xiao Huī’s heart as she imagined all the delicious food she could taste on that banquet table. Her stomach is definitely grumbling in agreement right now! Not long after, the limousine parked by a harbor where many fancy yachts were waiting. Xiao Xiānnǚ and Xiao Huī the boarded one of the yachts after Xiao Xiānnǚ showed the invitation for her family. Then, the ship began to sail as the winds of changes pushed it forward.

While riding over to the ball, Xiao Xiānnǚ and Xiao Huī got to know each other better. Xiao Xiānnǚ naturally avoided the topic of Xiao Huī’s background when Xiao Huī told her she was simply a servant of a household. They also talked about their goals at the ball, where Xiao Huī claimed she would just eat at the banquet table. On the other hand, Xiao Xiānnǚ claimed that she will simply socialize with the other ladies. When Xiao Huī questioned Xiao Xiānnǚ if she intended to seek a marriage with CEO Wángzǐ, Xiao Xiānnǚ told Xiao Huī that will never happen. Xiao Huī naturally diverted the topic when she realized that was a topic that should be avoided.

After a calm sail on the night ocean, the boat reached the harbor of the private island. As Xiao Huī and Xiao Xiānnǚ stepped off the boat, the nearby servants who were responsible for guiding the guests fell into a daze. They seemed to want to call out, but they shut their mouth not long after as if obeying the command of someone. Xiao Huī thought the servants were queer but as they acted normally afterwards, Xiao Huī thought there was no problem.

Hence, a couple of servants led Xiao Huī and Xiao Xiānnǚ onto a nearby limousine which they then drove towards the center of the island with. There laid an enormous, luxurious building with fancy bright lights decorating almost every corner. Xiao Huī and Xiao Xiānnǚ got out of the limousine and was led into the large banquet hall where lots of socialites were gathered already. Most were already bustling around socializing with each other while some stood in certain corners to observe. Xiao Xiānnǚ then told Xiao Huī that she will leave to greet her acquaintances and pointed her towards the back hall where she can find a room with many tables of food.

“Xiao Huī go have your fill! If anyone dares bully you, mention big sis’s name and continue eating! Just remember to wait for me outside by midnight so I can take you back!” Xiao Xiānnǚ chirped before bouncing off.

Although Xiao Huī had questions of whether mentioning Xiao Xiānnǚ’s name would help at all, Xiao Huī’s gurgling stomach told her to leave those questions for later. Food first, think later. Hence Xiao Huī bounced off to the banquet tables, almost tripping on her high heels. Fortunately, Xiao Huī reached her final destination safely, and drool leaked from Xiao Huī’s mouth as she stared dreamily at all the delicious food laid out on the tables. Xiao Huī began to flicker about as she tried food from every table. There was literally no one in the banquet hall besides Xiao Huī, hence no one to compete against her. Xiao Huī had free reign. Xiao Huī found a dish made with white truffles to be especially delicious, hence Xiao Huī had stopped at that part of the table as she gobbled one portion after another.

Time passed and before long, the portions of white truffle came down to one. Xiao Huī was just about to shamelessly reach for the last piece; however, her acquisition was interrupted midway by another hand reaching for that same last piece. Xiao Huī looked up to see a young man with sharp eye brows standing across the table. He was a handsome looking young man, and his fancy tuxedo made him stand out even more; however, at this moment, Xiao Huī saw this man as an eyesore. Anyone that takes Xiao Huī’s food is an eyesore!

“Let go, that is mine,” a soothing voice resounded from the man’s mouth.

“No! You let go! I was here first, so it’s mine!” Xiao Huī retorted!

“Do you know who I am?” the man spoke in a deep voice as he glanced at Xiao Huī.

Well, of course Xiao Huī doesn’t know who he is. He probably doesn’t know who Xiao Huī is either! However, Xiao Huī knows that anyone who steals her food is an enemy! Dare to bully Xiao Huī? Xiao Huī thought of what Xiao Xiānnǚ said before she instinctively retorted back, “I don’t know who you are, but I’m Xiao Xiānnǚ’s friend!”

The young man’s eyes seemed to twitch in shock as he lost his focus for a bit. Xiao Huī then happily slipped the last portion of white truffles into her mouth. Mmm! Xiao Huī could feel her belly moaning in ecstasy as she patted it like a child. That was definitely worth it! The young man seemed to be in a daze as he watched the childish Xiao Huī, as if he was recalling where he had met her before. Not long after, his eyebrows scrunched in anger.

“Do you think I will let you get away with this?” a cold voice threatened.

Xiao Huī looked over to see the young man glaring at her. Xiao Huī was a bit afraid as it seemed that Xiao Xiānnǚ’s name had no effect. Just as Xiao Huī was about to apologize in hopes of resolving the issue of her momentary impulse, a butler showed up and whispered into the young man’s ear. The young man then had his expression normalized as he nodded.

As the butler walked off, the young man seemed to be in deep contemplation before he glanced over at Xiao Huī. Xiao Huī stared back and had direct contact with the young man’s eyes. A weird palpating feeling arose in Xiao Huī’s heart as she couldn’t help but fear if this young man is going to punish her. After all, she’s just a servant with no power and she doesn’t know what background this young man had nor if he is a reasonable man or not! Xiao Huī blushed in embarrassment as she looked down at her feet while pondering how she could extricate herself from the situation. The young man stared back at Xiao Huī in a daze before he stated, “I will let you off if you help me with a favor.”

Xiao Huī looked up as her eyes sparkled. If the favor is not something too outrageous, she probably can handle it.

“There will be a dancing event during at the end of this ball. I need a partner to dance with; however, I can’t simply choose any lady from the crowd or else it would lead to … unwanted consequences. As you are Xiao Xiānnǚ’s friend, I believe you can have this dance with me, and there wouldn’t be any problems even if you don’t know how to dance as you can follow my lead,” the young man stated, “Will you be willing to be my partner?”

The young man then stared at Xiao Huī with eyes that seemed to suck Xiao Huī in. Xiao Huī subconsciously nodded as she realized that it wasn’t too outrageous of a favor, especially since Xiao Xiānnǚ was involved. Xiao Huī then followed the young man towards the dance hall. A gentle smile than arose on the young man’s face as he bowed and offered to take Xiao Huī’s hand, “Beautififul lady, may I have the honor of having this dance?”

Xiao Huī blushed as she retorted, “B-Beautiful? I eat so much, and I am fat, how can I be-“

The young man interrupted before Xiao Huī can finish, “But you are beautiful in my eyes. It doesn’t matter what others think.”

Xiao Huī jumped furiously as she blushed before gently placing her hands in the young man’s hand.

The young man then led Xiao Huī out to the hall where a thunderous applause greeted them. Then, music began to play as the announcer announced, “Please welcome CEO Wángzǐ and his chosen partner to bring an end to this wonderful ball with a dance!”

Xiao Huī almost tripped in shock, but a firm hand reached out to support her preventing her from falling. CEO Wángzǐ gently glanced over at Xiao Huī as he stated, “Calm down and just follow my lead.”

Hence, Xiao Huī was led out to a dance in a daze by CEO Wángzǐ. Xiao Huī was frantic at first, almost messing up on multiple occasions; however CEO Wángzǐ managed to adapt in time. However, Xiao Huī eventually calmed down as she looked up at CEO Wángzǐ who was gently glancing down at her. The dance smoothly continued and the two seemed to have sunk into each others’ eyes. Before they knew it, applause resounded around them as the long song has already ended. The two broke out of their trance as Xiao Huī glanced downwards while blushing. Her heart for some reason is furiously beating.

CEO Wángzǐ bowed to the audience and then led Xiao Huī out to a beautiful garden where he gently asked, “Encore?”

Xiao Huī blushed as she gently nodded, and the two continued to dance without the music while gently sinking into each other’s eyes once more. It seems a long time had passed or maybe mere moments, but the butler came up to interrupt the two once more, “Young master, it’s time for you to offer the final toast to the banquet so the guests can leave.”

CEO Wángzǐ nodded in affirmation before turning back to Xiao Huī, “Wait for me here, I will be right back.”

Xiao Huī nodded gently as she sat down. CEO Wángzǐ gently smiled at her before walking off to give his speech. Xiao Huī planned to wait for her dreams to come true; however, two familiar bickering voices shattered her dreams and brought her back to reality.
